Why Use Yellow Tongue Flooring For Your Timber Shed?

September 23, 2012

Last week I posted a blog about using windows wisely in your timber shed. This week, we will look why using yellow tongue flooring for your timber shed is the smart option for helping create a rot proof floor.

Moisture resistant yellow tongue flooring is designed to take water and is advisable to use when building or installing your timber shed. Additionally, it is good to use kiln dried treated pine joists and galvanised screws and nails to prevent rusting.

Raised sub floors also help prevent water from rotting your shed and we advise building your timber shed at least six inches above ground. This allows air to circulate underneath and avoid moisture from building up underneath.

We also encourage our customers to keep a distance of approximately 100 centimetres from trees, bushes or fences when installing your timber shed. If you build too close to any of these areas then it increases your chances of having mold and mildew because they will block sunlight and wind. Mold and mildew feed off dark and damp areas and having a clear space also means that you have easier access to your shed if you want to paint or repair the facade.

If you’re looking for Australian made timber sheds built to last and designs that are competitively priced, then visit Matt’s Homes in Bayswater, Melbourne or call them today on 1300 62 88 77.
